Additional information

Issued to mark the July 1981 marriage of Charles and Diana, this is one of hundreds of commemorative pieces produced across British territories and Commonwealth nations — Gibraltar among the most prolific. The Crown dependency's ability to issue its own coinage independently of the Royal Mint made it a reliable vehicle for royal commemoratives throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

Mintages for these issues were high and collector demand has long since been satisfied. Most examples encountered today are uncirculated remainders from original packaging.
