| Additional information |
Gibraltar's 1990 FIFA World Cup series was issued to coincide with Italia '90, one of the most defensively strangled tournaments on record — the average goals-per-game fell to 2.21, the lowest in World Cup history to that point. The goalkeeper subject was an apt choice for a tournament defined by clean sheets and penalty shootouts, including the infamous England–West Germany semifinal.
