Obverse description Crudely hammered copper flan of irregular polygonal form displaying the Kalima in two lines of Arabic script across the field, reading 'La ilaha illallah / Muhammadun rasulullah' (There is no god but God / Muhammad is the messenger of God). The legend is rendered in a bold, somewhat rough naskh hand characteristic of Mughal copper coinage. The field is unadorned, with no border ornament, and the surface shows the typical high relief and uneven strike associated with hand-hammered dam coinage of the Akbar period.
