| Obverse description | Barbarous imitation of a Roman imperial denarius of Commodus. Laureate and draped bust of the emperor facing right, rendered in a crude provincial style with simplified facial features characteristic of Germanic imitative coinage. The surrounding legend is garbled and largely unintelligible, reading MANIUNI[...]VEBAAZABAA, representing a debased attempt to replicate the Latin titulature of Commodus. The portrait retains the general compositional scheme of official Roman prototypes but exhibits the irregular flan and imprecise engraving typical of barbarian imitations. |
