Additional information

Jordan struck this issue to mark Hussein bin Talal's 50th birthday in 1985, a year in which the king was simultaneously navigating a fragile rapprochement with Yasser Arafat and attempting to revive a joint Jordanian-Palestinian peace initiative that would collapse entirely within twelve months. Commemorative dinars of this period circulated freely alongside regular issues, which accounts for the wear typically seen on surviving examples.
