The 1876 Serbian 1 Dinar (Pick 1) was an emergency mobilization note, not a peacetime banking instrument. Printed by L. Dumont in Paris but stamped locally in Belgrade, the notes were immediately nicknamed "belavci" — the white notes — by a public deeply suspicious of paper money and accustomed to silver.
Most were hoarded, never formally circulated, and destroyed after the war. Any surviving example carries that history in its paper.
