| Reverse description | Central field displays a multi-lobed cartouche containing a three-line Arabic inscription reading 'al-Imam al-Nasir / li-Din Allah / Amir al-Mu'minin', invoking the Abbasid Caliph al-Nasir as Commander of the Faithful, a standard formula of legitimacy on Ayyubid coinage. The bold Naskhi lettering is deeply struck and well-centred within the lobe border. A marginal legend encircles the design within a dotted inner border, consistent with Damascus mint practice of this period. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, as typical of hand-struck dirhams of the era. |
