Obverse description Central vignette at upper centre shows a sailing ship at sea beside a tall palm tree, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The issuer title REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs in bold ornate script above the vignette, flanked by vertical letterpress panels reading ONE DOLLAR on both left and right margins. The body of the note carries the demand clause in a mixed typeset and script hand, with a bold letterpress panel reading ONE DOLLAR at lower left, a manuscript place and date line reading Monrovia, and spaces for the handwritten signatures of the Secretary of the Treasury and the President.
