Obverse description Vignette of a traditional sailing proa to the left, set against a calm sea. A large star-shaped guilloche medallion occupies the centre, with the denomination ONE DOLLAR in bold letterpress to the right. Bilingual inscriptions appear in English and Jawi script, with the date 1ST MARCH 1959 along the lower margin and the issuing authority title across the top.
