| Reverse description | The central vignette presents an intaglio view of a Housing and Development Board residential estate, with a row of tall modernist apartment blocks set against an open sky, conveying Singapore's post-independence public housing programme. Guilloche rosettes and geometric lathe-work ornaments frame the design at the corners and borders, with the denomination numeral in a guilloche cartouche at lower centre. The overall colour scheme is blue-grey on white. |

Singapore's Board of Commissioners of Currency was itself a new institution when this note entered circulation — established only in 1967 following the collapse of the Malaya and British Borneo Currency Agreement and the subsequent dissolution of the shared currency board with Malaysia and Brunei. The split was abrupt enough that Singapore needed circulating paper almost immediately, and Bradbury Wilkinson in Surrey delivered the first series within the year.
Four signature combinations exist across the print run, reflecting the rapid turnover of ministers overseeing the currency authority in the early years of the republic. The red seal variants are generally the scarcer pickups within the series.
