Bouvet Island has no permanent population, no economy, and no monetary system — it is a Norwegian nature reserve in the South Atlantic, roughly 1,700 kilometres from the nearest inhabited land. Any banknote attributed to it is a fantasy or souvenir item with no official status. Norway, the administering power, has never authorized banknote issuance for the territory.
Collectors should treat this as a novelty piece, not a circulating or legally issued note.
