Comments

This note is not legal tender. Issued as a commemorative or novelty item referencing the disputed islets claimed by both South Korea and Japan, it participates in a long-running territorial argument that has generated considerable political heat since Japan's 1905 incorporation of the islands — which Korea regards as an illegal act predating the broader colonial annexation of 1910. The dollar denomination has no connection to any South Korean monetary unit, past or present.
