| Reverse description | Central motif depicting the stylised head of a Nusu-Nusu, a traditional Solomon Islands sea spirit statue, rendered in bold relief with characteristic geometric decorative elements including diamond and floral motifs, a beaded collar, and an open jaw. The numeral '1' appears to the upper right of the effigy, while the denomination legend 'DOLLAR' is inscribed in large letters along the lower portion of the field. The design, executed by David Thomas, occupies the full face of the seven-sided coin. |

| Additional information |
The Solomon Islands gained independence from Britain in July 1978, meaning coins dated 1977 carry the pre-independence issuing authority while those from 1978 onward reflect the newly sovereign state — both sharing the same KM#6 type. The series was struck at the Royal Mint's facility in Llantrisant, Wales, which had absorbed Commonwealth decimal coinage production following the closure of Tower Hill in 1975.
