Fiji's Reserve Bank issued a series of colored wildlife dollars in the late 2000s targeting the collector and souvenir market rather than circulation. These pieces were never intended as working currency — struck in silver-plated copper-nickel and sold at a premium, they functioned as numismatic merchandise from the outset.
