Additional information

Brunei's dollar coinage shifted to a second portrait of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in the early 1990s as part of a broader reissue that updated the effigy across denominations. The Currency and Monetary Board — not a central bank in the conventional sense, as Brunei maintains a Currency Interchangeability Agreement with Singapore dating to 1967 — issues coins that circulate at par with the Singapore dollar, making any Bruneian piece simultaneously legal tender in both countries.

Low domestic population and limited tourist circulation mean these coins see relatively little wear.
