Additional information

The inland taipan holds the distinction of producing the most toxic venom of any snake species measured by median lethal dose in mice — a single strike carries enough to kill over 100 adult humans. Despite this, no human fatality has ever been recorded from the species, largely because it inhabits the remote black soil plains of central Australia where encounters are extraordinarily rare. Samoa's issuance of this coin is part of a broader trend of Pacific island mints producing wildlife-themed silver for the collector market, with the Central Bank of Samoa functioning essentially as a licensing authority for issues aimed entirely at numismatic buyers rather than circulation.
