| Obverse description | The centre of the note is occupied by the heraldic coat of arms of the Montreal Catholic School Commission, surmounted by a beaver atop ivy foliage and flanked by a ribbon scroll bearing the Latin motto EX LABORE FRUCTUS. Guilloche-framed oval vignettes to the left and right each carry the numeral 1, set between columnar pilasters with decorative scroll flourishes at the base. The entire design is printed in green on white paper, with the bilingual legend MONNAIE SCOLAIRE – SCOLASTIC MONEY in bold letterpress within a ruled panel at the foot of the note. |
