| Obverse description | Bare-headed youthful effigy of King George I facing left, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair swept back from the brow. The engraver's name BAPPE appears incuse on the truncation, with the mint mark 'A' to the left and the date below the bust in the exergue. The circumferential legend reads ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ, separated from the toothed border by a fine inner rim. The portrait reflects the refined neo-classical style characteristic of Désiré-Albert Barre's work for the Monnaie de Paris. |
