The date 16-50 is divided to either side of the shield, with the engraver's initials G-P appearing below the shield. Reval — modern Tallinn — held the right to strike its own gold coinage as a privilege of its status under Swedish imperial rule, and this 1650 ducat was produced during the reign of Queen Christina, whose abdication just four years later would end Sweden's most expansive period of Baltic dominance. The city's mint operated under strict guild supervision, and output was never large; surviving examples from this municipal issue are genuinely scarce, not artificially so.
