Reverse description Bold floriated cross potent with lions and castles alternating in the quadrants, struck in the characteristic cob style of the Mexico City mint. The cross fills the center of the irregular flan, with a partial tressure border visible around portions of the design. The mint mark 'M' and assayer initial 'L' are partially discernible adjacent to the cross, along with fragmentary peripheral legend. The overall strike is typical of late 17th-century macuquina gold cob coinage, with bold central devices and weak, incomplete legends at the margins.
