Obverse description Host coin of Samarqand or Bukhara type, overstruck with a rectangular Qarshi countermark applied to the field. The countermark consists of Arabic script arranged in multiple lines within a recessed rectangular cartouche, the legends partially overlapping the underlying host coin inscriptions which remain partially legible in the surrounding field. The host coin surface exhibits worn Arabic legends consistent with Central Asian hammered copper coinage of the Khanate period.
