Reverse description A plain cross extending to the edge of the flan divides the reverse into four quarters, with a single letter of the moneyer's name placed in each corner angle of the cross, spelling the name of the moneyer Thomas. The letters are rendered in a simple, bold Romanesque style consistent with Anglo-Irish hammered coinage of the late 12th century. The flan is irregular, and the strike is slightly off-center, as is typical for hand-struck issues of this period.
Reverse script Latin
Reverse lettering T O M A
(Translation: Thomas)
