Obverse description Frontal bust of Christ Pantocrator within a decorative border, depicted in Byzantine style with a nimbus. The figure is shown facing forward in hieratic pose, flanked by ornamental elements. Partial Greek inscription appears in the field, reading Ɔ-δ, likely an abbreviated reference to Christ. The design is characteristic of late medieval Adriatic autonomous municipal coinage, with crude but expressive hammered relief.

Additional information

Drivast — the medieval Albanian town known today as Drisht — maintained a brief but documented period of autonomous coinage during the fourteenth century, a rare privilege among smaller Adriatic hinterland settlements caught between Angevin, Serbian, and later Venetian pressure. The city fell under Venetian control in 1396, which effectively ended any independent minting activity.

The Dobrinić reference places this among a small cluster of Albanian civic coppers that remain poorly represented in major collections, making die studies difficult.
