Reverse description A large Gothic capital letter R dominates the central field, serving as the primary device and representing the Republic of Ragusa (Republica Ragusina). Four irregular six-pointed or star-shaped ornaments are disposed around the letter in the four quadrants of the field, each pair of stars separated by a triangular arrangement of three pellets. The overall composition is bold and heraldic in character, typical of the follaro coinage of Ragusa during the mid-15th century.
