Obverse description Left-centre oval intaglio vignette of King Albert I in military uniform, shown in left-facing profile against a fine guilloche underprint. The bank title 'BANQUE NATIONALE DE BELGIQUE' and denomination 'UN FRANC' with the clause 'PAYABLE A VUE' appear to the right, alongside an ornate monogram cartouche. A date panel at top centre carries the issue date in red, with serial number and two facsimile signatures of the Trésorier and Gouverneur printed in red below. The entire design is framed by an elaborate foliate and geometric border.

Reverse description The reverse is executed entirely in blue intaglio on a fine guilloche ground, centred on a large 'NBB' monogram watermark-style underprint flanked by symmetrical acanthus leaf and floral vignettes. The Belgian crowned coat of arms appears at the top centre, with the Dutch-language bank title 'NATIONALE BANK VAN BELGIE' arched above it. The denomination 'EEN FRANK' is set in a rectangular panel, with 'BETAALBAAR OP ZICHT' beneath, and a penal clause cartouche at the lower centre. Corner medallions carry the numeral '1', and subsidiary denomination tablets flank the lower border.
