| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Burundi occupies the central field, featuring a shield bearing a lion's head in its centre, flanked by two symmetrical scroll-form supporters and surmounted by three crossed spears. A scroll at the base of the shield bears the French motto UNITE · TRAVAIL · PROGRES in relief lettering. The bilingual legend UBUMWE - IBIKORWA - AMAJAMBERE arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, with the date inscribed in large numerals at the bottom of the field. |
