Obverse description Full-length facing figure of Saint John the Baptist standing in high relief, clad in flowing robes, his right hand raised in benediction and his left arm cradling a book or lamb. A letter D appears between his feet in the lower field. The saint's nimbed head is depicted within a beaded inner circle, and a Gothic uncial legend encircles the entire design within a beaded outer border.
