| Reverse description | Central field features a cross pattée decorated with elaborate foliate and scroll ornaments in each angle, evoking the Danish royal arms in a stylized form. The cross divides the field into four quadrants, each filled with Renaissance-style floral flourishes. The peripheral legend, reading in segments around the coin, spells out FRIDERICVS Z DG, an abbreviated form of Fredericus II Dei Gratia, denoting the king by the grace of God. Pellet stops separate the legend elements, consistent with the hammered small denomination coinage of the Danish royal mint at Frederiksborg during the 1580s. |
