Reverse description The reverse bears a Telugu inscription in bold, raised characters occupying the central field, reading 'మంగమ్మ' (Mangamma), referencing Queen Mangammal, the regent of the Madurai Nayaka kingdom from 1690 to 1731. The lettering is rendered in the loose, freely struck style typical of hammered copper kasu coinage of this period. The characters fill most of the flan, with minimal surrounding field visible. The surface shows the characteristic granular texture and irregular edge of a hand-struck coin produced without a collar.
