Falange Española issued a range of local food-ration vouchers in the immediate postwar years as the Francoist state struggled to administer rationing through its party apparatus rather than conventional municipal channels. This example from Rubí — a small industrial town in the Vallès Occidental — is denominated in kind rather than currency: one kilogram of chickpeas, a staple that became politically charged during the autarky years when legume rations were among the few reliable caloric supplements available to the working poor.
Paper food tokens of this type were produced locally and are poorly documented. Most were discarded once redeemed.
