Reverse description The denomination "1 KRÓNA" is inscribed in two lines at the center of the field, flanked symmetrically on either side by stylized sprays of pubescent birch (Betula pubescens), the only tree endemic to Iceland. The inscription "ÍSLAND" appears above the denomination. The foliate motifs are rendered in a clean, linear style characteristic of mid-twentieth century Scandinavian coinage design. The date of issue appears in the exergue or lower field.
