Obverse description Printed entirely in crimson red on cream paper, the note is laid out in a typographic style without pictorial vignettes. The upper portion carries the promise-to-pay text in Gothic script within a central cartouche framed by intricate guilloche latticework, with the large denomination legend 'Eine Krone' set in bold blackletter type at centre. Three facsimile signatures — Gouverneur, Generalrat, and Generalsekretär — appear below the issuer's name, and the lower border is occupied by a band of fine guilloche ornament flanked by two rosette medallions, with the counterfeiting warning enclosed in a ruled rectangular frame.
Obverse lettering Die Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank, österreichische Geschäftsführung, zahlt gegen diese Banknote bei ihrer Hauptanstalt in Wien sofort auf Verlangen Eine Krone in gesetzlichem Metallgelde. Wien, 2. Jänner 1922. Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank DIE NACHMACHUNG DER BANKNOTEN WIRD GESETZLICH BESTRAFT.
