| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a two-line Arabic legend in raised relief, the script rendered in a characteristically compact and somewhat crude hammered style typical of early Southeast Asian Islamic coinage. The entire inscription is contained within a raised beaded border that follows the irregular round flan. The lettering reads 'Muhammad Malik al-Tahir', identifying the ruling sultan by name and honorific epithet. |
