Additional information

Rajendra Vikrama Shah ruled Nepal during a period of acute political instability, serving as a largely ceremonial figure while real power rested with a succession of competing noble factions. He was ultimately deposed by Jung Bahadur Rana in 1847 — the same coup that inaugurated over a century of Rana oligarchic rule. Coins struck under his name span that entire turbulent arc.

The Mohar was Nepal's principal silver denomination throughout the Shah dynasty, produced at the Kathmandu mint using hand-struck methods that generate considerable variation in centering and strike quality across the type.
