Above the square aperture, positioned in the upper field near the rim, is a finely detailed 5-3 Paulownia (kiri) mon device rendered in low relief, depicting three stylized paulownia flower clusters arranged in the traditional heraldic 5-3 formation. The remainder of the reverse field is smooth and unadorned, typical of hammered Japanese gold coinage of the Momoyama period. |
