Additional information

The 1 Mun was the base unit of the Joseon cash coin system, cast rather than struck — a production method that introduced significant variation between individual pieces depending on the quality of the sand molds used. KM#344 corresponds to issues from the military office mints established under King Yeongjo, who aggressively expanded state casting operations in the 1740s to fund ongoing fiscal pressures on the royal court. Mold seam remnants and minor surface irregularities are intrinsic to the type, not defects.
