Additional information

Nepal's transition to modern decimal coinage accelerated under Tribhuvan, whose reign was itself interrupted by a decade of forced exile in India after the Rana oligarchy stripped him of real power. This issue predates his 1950–51 restoration by just a few years — coins struck in his name during the late Rana period were something of a political fiction, the king's portrait on currency while he held no meaningful authority.
