Additional information

Struck during the reign of Olaf Kyrre, Norway's first prolonged period of peace after the Viking Age's final campaigns ended at Stamford Bridge in 1066. Kyrre deliberately distanced his court from Scandinavian warrior tradition, adopting continental ecclesiastical customs and establishing Norway's first permanent bishoprics — a political realignment that reshaped the kingdom's administrative infrastructure and, with it, its coinage.

The Schive III:19 reference places this among a small, closely studied group of pennings from Kyrre's long reign. Die-link research on these issues remains incomplete.
