Obverse description Crude hammered silver field depicting a stylised crowned royal bust or facing figure, rendered in the primitive Romanesque manner typical of late Viking-age Norwegian coinage. The central motif is flanked by a crescent or arc device and scattered pellets and star-like ornaments distributed across the field. The design is strongly influenced by contemporary Anglo-Saxon penny types, executed with characteristic irregularity of the hand-struck technique. No legible circumscription is discernible on this example, though traces of letter-like forms appear at the periphery.
