Obverse description Central device consisting of a triquetra (three-cornered knotwork motif), a characteristic Viking-Age symbol, rendered in raised relief in the field of the coin. The design is executed in a bold, schematic hammered style typical of 11th-century Norse coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the central motif, reading + I IOI III. The flan is irregular and slightly off-round, with a pierced hole visible at the top, consistent with secondary use as a pendant. The surfaces display characteristic die-struck relief with uneven flan preparation.
