Obverse description Central triquetra motif enclosed within a plain inner circle, its three interlocked arcs terminating in pellets at each junction, with an annulet at the centre. The triquetra is circumscribed by a raised linear ring, beyond which runs a peripheral legend in blundered Latin characters rendered by a semi-literate die-cutter, interspersed with decorative elements including cross-crosslets and annulets. The overall composition reflects the Anglo-Danish artistic tradition of the early eleventh century.
