Reverse description A large double cross occupies the central field, a design motif common to Anglo-Saxon influenced coinage of the period. The arms of the cross extend toward the beaded border encircling the rim. A partially legible or blundered inscription surrounds the central motif in the field, consistent with the work of local moneyers imitating English penny prototypes. The overall execution is rough, reflecting the nascent state of Norwegian mint production in the early eleventh century.
