| Obverse description | Plain bronze field centred by a circular perforation, around which the country name ZAMBIA arcs across the upper half in large, boldly incuse serif capital letters. The date 1966 appears in large numerals across the lower half of the field. Two small five-pointed stars flank the central hole at the left and right, serving as decorative dividers between the legend and the date. The design is entirely typographic, with no figurative motif, reflecting the distinctive holed coinage style adopted by Zambia at independence. |
