Obverse description Crude stylized bust of a sovereign facing right, rendered in the degenerate Hiberno-Norse manner characteristic of late eleventh-century Dublin coinage. The effigy, executed in low relief, shows a simplified head with rudimentary facial features, flanked by a long cross with annulets in the angles. A partial and largely illegible Latin legend surrounds the design within a beaded border, the lettering deteriorated through repeated die copying.
