| Obverse description | Central voided double cross with a small pellet at the intersection, the four arms of the cross dividing the field into quadrants, each containing an X-shaped saltire ornament. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a partially legible retrograde or corrupt Latin legend in the outer field. The flan is irregular and exhibits characteristic bracteate thinness, with the design struck in low relief typical of late Hiberno-Norse penny production. |
