Obverse description The obverse features a centrally placed round hole surrounded by a plain inner border. Surmounting the hole at the top of the field is a large Imperial crown in high relief. The circular legend GEORGE·VI·KING·EMPEROR runs along the outer border, reading clockwise from the lower left. The entire design is contained within a toothed or beaded milled rim.

Reverse description The reverse is centered on a round hole flanked by the divided date, with '19' to the left and the remaining two digits to the right, all within the inner field. The country name FIJI arcs across the upper portion of the coin in large, bold letters, while the denomination PENNY curves along the lower portion. A small 'S' mintmark for the San Francisco Mint appears below the central hole between the denomination legend and the inner border. The design is framed by a toothed outer rim consistent with the obverse.
