Reverse description The reverse mirrors the obverse layout, with the merchant's name 'H.J.HALL' prominently displayed in bold raised lettering across the central field, again flanked by elongated horizontal bar devices above and below. A floriated cross ornament appears as a decorative stop within the circular peripheral legend. The upper arc reads 'FAMILY GROCER' and the lower arc reads 'WINE & SPIRIT MERCHANT', all in capital Latin letters, identifying the dual trade of the issuer. The typographic style is consistent with the obverse and with standard New Zealand colonial copper tradesman's token production.
