Obverse description Crowned effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, her hair gathered in a chignon and bound with a ribbon, wearing a jewelled coronet, engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon whose signature L C WYON appears in small letters below the truncation. The portrait is contained within an inner beaded circle, with the date displayed prominently in large numerals below the bust along the inner border. The legend VICTORIA QUEEN arcs around the upper periphery between the inner beaded circle and the outer toothed border, with small ornamental rosettes serving as stops at the sides.
