| Obverse description | The full coat of arms of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek (Transvaal) occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by crossed flags and surmounted by a displayed eagle with wings raised. The shield bears detailed emblematic charges including a standing figure, a lion passant, and an ox wagon, rendered in fine relief. A five-pointed star device appears at the base below the shield. The entire armorial composition is encircled by a ring of raised pearls forming an inner border. The circular legend ZUID AFRIKAANSCHE REPUBLIEK runs around the periphery between the pearl border and the milled edge, with lettering in upright roman capitals. |
