Caudiel is a small municipality in Castellón province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War years, its local cooperative issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage vanished from circulation almost entirely by 1936–37. These hyper-local issues — often hand-stamped, numbered in small series, and redeemable only within the issuing community — were produced with whatever materials were at hand, which accounts for the heavier stock here.
The Garrió and Montaner corpus documents many such issues incompletely, and the absent catalog number signals either late documentation or a type known only from a handful of survivors.
